Orchy sorry DS isnt feeling well. Prednisone sucks, I take it for my asthma and boy howdy do I become a bigger mean hateful awful nasty (anything else ya wanna add) type of person. And it makes my feel all yucky.

You need to get onto an antibiotic for that kitty bite. They cause really awful infections.

Okay now that I've caught up.

I'm exhausted. I got the coop totally scrubbed out, vacuumed out and treated, put in new shavings and DE, dusted and treated 6 of the birds (all the ones in that coop). I feel really guilty, they had mites pretty bad and I never realized it. The one girl I have in quarantine in my bathroom, she got a warm bath (which is more difficult than I thought to do

), dried and dusted and treated. I am pretty positive they all have fowl pox. The more I read on it the more I find there really nothing I can do for it except let it run its course. I have a feeling I'm gonna have to have DH cull the flock. Well see. The ones in the coop where looking much better this morning though and the little girl thats in the bathroom is the one with the snapped tendon (I think thats why she had it worse than the others, she doesnt roost she just sits on the floor in the shavings) was hobbling her way around and looked a little better.

No I have one more rcoop and four more birds to accomplish but that wont happen until saturday.

I feel like such a bad person

Oh and just to add that I should never ever get mites or worms. I think I inhaled enough seven dust to kill an elephant and wore enough of it too. LOL

Kitty bites are REALLY filthy things. As in 2 weeks of Augmentin type nasty.

Bows, oh no!!!! That's rotten, stupid mites and fowl pox. Is it your Sussex who are sick, or are your Marans sick also?

Yep its the sussex, I'm going to really check out the marans tonight. They are in a seperate run and coop so I'm praying maybe just maybe they wont be as bad.

Orchy Please let us know how your finger heals. I'd hate for it to turn into cellulitis.

Not as much as I'd hate it!

When it woke me up throbbing in the middle of the night and I had to take 600 mg of ibuprofen to get back to sleep, I figured it was time to go in.

Algae, if I have to be on Augmentin for two weeks, this skinnification plan is going to go really well. That stuff is so nasty on the tummy.

Eat lots of yogurt too. It will help with other issues that antibiotics cause.

I'll have to get Diflucan for that. This is why I avoid antibiotics like the plague. I am very sensitive to them.

Bows, I'm going to tell you again, YOU ARE NOT A BAD CHICKEN keeper. As far as I know there is no way to prevent fowl pox, which probably weakened them enough to allow the mites to move in. Totally out of your control, and now you're doing your best to help them get better.
