Is this the same thing? http://www.easywater.com/watersofteners.aspx

Yes. What they perhaps don't come right out and tell you is that the media in those water treatment systems needs to be replaced every few (2-3) years and it can be expensive. We sell softeners and scale eliminators (that's what the "saltless" softeners are actually called) and the media for the scale eliminator we sell runs around $600. It does a good job of, well, eliminating scale, and you don't have to put salt in it, but it's not much more cost effective than a regular softener and it will NOT remove iron. Also, the water from scale eliminator can leave a white powdery residue on your fixtures, but the residue does wipe right off, unlike hard water stains.

Now if only there was a solution to our rotten egg water besides bleaching the lines....

Is it on the hot side and the cold side or just the hot side?

To be correct it was

"*squeaking shrieky noise* YOU TWO HAVE RUINED MY LIFE FOR EVER!!!! *stamp foot* I HATE YOU!!!! *stamp foot*"

*runs to room to pout*

You know, typical teenaged girl dramatics. I'd get upset if I wasn't so darn amused. That and I'm not sure who I'm supposed to get upset at.

She'll eventually learn that a man who can't keep his pants on around a lady, is no man at all.

Or needs to buy a belt.

Both sides. It comes out of the ground at our springhouse smelling like rotten eggs.

Mmmm, the smell of hydrogen sulfide in the morning.

We can actually get a specialty treatment system for that which does not require bleaching your lines. Those don't require salt. They use oxygen injection to eliminate the smell and regenerate using just air and water.

we just buy bottled water, altho DH was raised on the well and it doesnt bother him or my kids. But it makes me sick to my stomach to drink it.

AND, if you run a glass from the tap and let it sit on the counter for an hour there is a layer of black silt in the bottom of the glass.

Stupid farm water. I guess you get what you pay for haha!

Yeah, $20 should cover it.

You do get what you pay for when it comes to water treatment. You can buy a $400 softener at Mills FF that will last about five years, or you can buy a $1600 one that will last 20.
