Yes. What they perhaps don't come right out and tell you is that the media in those water treatment systems needs to be replaced every few (2-3) years and it can be expensive. We sell softeners and scale eliminators (that's what the "saltless" softeners are actually called) and the media for the scale eliminator we sell runs around $600. It does a good job of, well, eliminating scale, and you don't have to put salt in it, but it's not much more cost effective than a regular softener and it will NOT remove iron. Also, the water from scale eliminator can leave a white powdery residue on your fixtures, but the residue does wipe right off, unlike hard water stains.
