They mentioned not being able to throw away anything because you think it might be reused for another purpose later on if you just keep it. My 7yo does that. I have to periodically throw away half of his "treasures" because they are all empty water bottles or envelopes. I realize that in school they really push recycling, but I think they are terrifying our children into this type of behavior.
The only thing I have hoarding issues with is food.
I have 3 year old peaches in the freezer that I know I should toss, but if I do then they will be gone, and then what will I do? That comes from the abusive POS ex stranding me in BFE with no car and no food for my kids or myself for days on end. Now that I can buy food anytime I need to I tend to get a little overzealous about making sure we have a backlog.....
