Did anyone else watch Animal Hoarders Friday night? The one girl only had 2 foofy dogs. Shihtzus or something like that....and 8 cats. 7 adult cats and 1 kitten. THAT WAS IT. But she never cleaned anything....like, no scooping of litterboxes and if she was too tired she wouldn't bother to take the dogs out. And her entire kitchen was piled up with trash and dirty dishes. She was gross and lazy. Seriously. 10 animals in her house and she couldn't handle it. I could handle 2 foo foo dogs and 8 cats with my eyes closed. You wouldn't even know I had animals. Get 3 litterboxes all in a row, scoop them 2 or 3 times a day. Wha la. Instant clean house.

I have 4 dogs, 2 cat and 2 bunnies in the house. My house is spotless compared to hers. I love watching that show because it makes me feel good about myself LOL.

Makes me wanna purge so I don't become like that with too much junk.

I did not see that one though...I was off at IHOP for my neices 4th birthday party. You'd think maybe I would have gotten pancakes or something? Nope, I was good and got lemon chicken. Not bad.

Morning, all.

So sorry about the run of bad luck you're having.

ibpboo, where DID you come up with that cow/chicken poem?

I don't get the channel with Animal Hoarders, so obviously I didn't see it. That lady sounds like she was just a slob, plain and simple - even without the animals, her house would look like that. My guys installed a furnace at a house the other day where the lady had a little frou-frou dog that she let out the front door on a 6 ft. leash to do its duty - on the front deck. That hasn't been shoveled all winter. My guys were SO impressed, you can just imagine.

I've been taking my dog running when it's above zero just so he can get some exercise. Go figure.

Nells, 8 hypothetical cats and only three hypothetical litterboxes? My vet would chew you a new one.

Don't you know you would need at least nine hypothetical litterboxes?

Yeah, I gave my two cats two litterboxes that sit right next to each other, and they only use one.

By the way, the Mexican was delicious and the movie was okay. And DH sat right next to me while I ate the Mexican.

All kidding aside, I had fajita chicken quesadillas and they were really good. And two long islands, which were also very good.

Mmmmmm, alcohol. I missed a few doses of my pills so I am have 3 pills left. 1 tonight, 1 tomorrow morning, 1 tomorrow night. That means I can have alcohol as of Friday morning, I think. LOL. I will wait til Friday evening like a good girl. That will make 2 weeks of no booze. My life, it has lost all meaning.....

I make my own litterbox rules. I have one for each cat currently. One in laundry room for Norman, one in extra bedroom for Lucy. They even each use their own box, ha ha ha. And I scoop faithfully every night. But you could get away with fewer boxes if you scooped more often, even if you had more cats. Scoop first thing in morning, soon as you get home from work and before bed. There ya go. Says the lady who once had 8 cats at her house when she was fostering a mom with 3 kittens. What's the rule? 1 box for 2 cats and then you add a box with every cat after that? Something like that. But seriously, who needs 8 litterboxes for 8 cats? just scoop the dang things! Such a simple solution......

I hate people who want lots of animals, but dont want to do the work involved. I have it almost down to a science over here. I get up in AM, give cat pill in laundry room and grab clothes while I'm at it. At night, Cat gets pill, then a can of food, while he eats I scoop his litterbox. Then I go to Lucy's room, refill her food and water and then scoop her litterbox. Takes less than 5 minutes.

I'm eating a Marie Calendars micro steamer meal thingy. Beef pepper steak or something. It has rice and some veggies too. Not bad but not great either. Good enough.

I threw the garage cats outside today. It was 15º above zero when I got up this morning, I figured they needed an airing after being in the garage for days on end.

Beaner, I will let you know thursday if I'm able to meet you. it will depend on a) if I'm still able to walk, and b) if I was able to get the birds in boxes before work.
If I mess up on either of those, then I will just have to wait to get the birds to LH.

I am pathetically grateful we're having 'warm' weather right now because it means the birds can drink from the waterers for a change! I was afraid that the birds would die of dehydration this week if it were really cold, because there is so much going on I can only get out there once a day during daylight.

DH wanted me to take DD's computer out west before we went to orchestra and I freaked out. I have way too much to do at the house each afternoon to fit that in! Plus, he's the one that broke it! So he should get the honors of 'splaining the isue to the Geek Squad, dotcha think?

I got another 'question' about when the 4 chicks in the basement would go to the coop. Um, when the 6 teens are either sold or upgraded to a coop... and they aren't ready yet. But that's not what I answered, as that would've caused more fussing. <sigh> Why can't he be addicted to chickens, too? Is that too much to ask?

Oscar the Emu egg is being faithfully rotated a quarter turn. He is resting on a soft ex-dishtowel (clean) rather than the hard wire. I figure emus have nests on the ground, to they don't need wrap-around air. The towel feel warm when I turn the egg, so I don't think it is suffering from lack of heat at that level. Gosh, I sure hope it hatches. Chickenzoo has one that's pipped and trying to hatch right now!

BTW. DH asked when Oscar the Emu would live, after hatching. He finally figured out how long it would live with us before moving to KY.
I said, "It'll live in a brooder box in the house, and wear a diaper in the house when it outgrows the brooder. Except for play dates with the chickens."
He said, "Really? Who's house will you be living in then?"
I laughed and laughed.

He did not laugh.

Oscar! That is a great name. I already plan to name a future something Oscar at my house. I am expecting my new order of chicken saddles to arrive today. 3 of them are SUPERHEN saddles. I am so excited. I am actually going to put one on a bantam rooster that is a stunted failure. He needs a superman cape so he can rule the world. Good ol Frank the rooster (not to be confused with Frankie the dog).

Plus I am going to put one on my favorite hen Stew #2 and my half blind leghornX girl. They need to be SUPERHENS as well.

And I should 8 regular saddles too. I still have a bunch of saddles from last year but they all need the snaps fixed as they don't really stay snapped any more. Crazy chickens. One of my roosters is being ridiculous, so he is going to be put in his own pen until kabob time next month. Jerk.

I hope your emu hatches!

I am also enjoying this "warm" weather. I ate my lunch in here then went out to my car and laid in there with the window down and just a sweater draped over me. So glorious.

Those are cute Nells!

My DH would never allow chickens, emus, or any other type of livestock in the house, I'm quite sure of it Lori. So though he may whine and fuss a bit, your DH is ahead of mine in that regard. He was very accommodating when the garage was taken over by the chicks last spring, though.
