I am just mucking my way through month-end....I am supposed to build a bunch of reports in our new accounting system, but no one listens to me when I say I cant because I need x and y...

Next month, after the software conversion is done, should be a real PITA.

I thought that was algebra. Aren't you in accounting? Shouldn't you be asking for Amortisation and Yield? Maybe you're just not asking for the right things?

Yeah I do accounting---but I also do all the software conversions, the accounting software programming and training, the taxes, the financial statements, the 30+ offices leases/rent/other fees, anything to do with the partners' crap, misc monthly stuff, and play in the office band.

I (lucky me) am the only trained/authorized back up for the payroll person, the controller, and the company cash lady. I also can do AP and AR, when the need arises.

In short: I dont ususally get to do vacations, because I am everyone's back up.

Yes. It was called "Sadistics" though and was truly torturous.
I had to take it again with some little newb college prof holding my hand.

Gosh Laree, and I thought you were just a pretty stinkeye!

The reason I'm asking about the statistics course is that it's a make-or-break thing for the possible career that has been offered to me and might come true in about 2 years (licensed real estate appraiser). In order to even qualify to take the courses & test, I just need that one particular college class. (I got the other college credits necessary in community college a lifetime ago.)

I got a statistics textbook from the library and can't even grasp the first chapter. I looked further along in the book and the mathematical equations looked as familiar as Hebrew. Am I barking up the wrong tree? Should I really just be a bag lady?

Gotta go do some errands and then appear at my next office in a half-hour. Let me know if you all think I'm nuts to even sign up for the course. Wegot, I bet I'd have to take it a couple dozen times and wear out a couple dozen hankies too.

No, you should call a local college and see if they have math whiz kids that tutor sweet little old ladies to keep them off the streets.

A good teacher makes all the difference. Statistics is pretty easy for the firs 2 or 3 classes---you just need to stop trying to relate the verbiage to anything else you know. Think of it as learning about nudibranchs in a different language, like Latin.

Naw, you'd take them some fresh eggs and wow them with your baking expertise.
And then they'd want to help coach sweet lil ole Buffy with those big bad sadistics.
