Happy Monday!

So, revisiting the "Huntsman Spider" from last week, I went out into the garden Saturday morning to pick tomatoes and noticed something at least 2 inches long scurrying under a plant out of the corner of my eye. So what do I do? I start LOOKING for it... then I remembered the post on here, and my comment that I would have peed myself a little, and left well-enough alone....which was all for naught because when I got into the house there was a 1" wolf spider in the kitchen sink staring at me, like he KNEW DH was gonef or the weekend and he was daring me to take care of this myself. For those of you who take them outside and let them go I wont go into the details of what I did to make him go away.

My beets suck! The tops are HUGE, leading one to believe that the root is huge, but they are only 1-2 inches diameter! So I did not can beets as originally planned. But I got a lot of laundry and weeding done since all 3 boys were out at the lake. And then, when I couldnt take the aloneness anymore I broke down and drove out, but I did not bring anything with so that I would have an excuse to come home and sleep in a real bed (the lake is only a few minutes away) and went tubing (um, dont just go tubing after not tubing for 10 years, it hurts) and got a sunburn on my legs which is miraculous because my legs repel all UV rays.

The kids fished and swam and tubed all weekend, they are crabby lil monsters this morning. Good times!

Batty, how did the art show go? Wish I could've come. Instead I had all kinds of local social-butterflying to do. I was thinkin' boutcha though...

Have a total of 7 black d'Uccle chicks, but will have to go down to 6 soon. Have a bad case of spraddle leg in the brooder

If vitamins can't cure it (and they won't, not for this chick) then I cull. It's the broody's fault. She climbed off the nest too soon and I have no idea how long the eggs were cold before I realized what she'd done and threw them in the bator. Poor baby... I hate culling, but I want to breed responsibly.

DH is being amazingly patient about the bator being plugged back in (only made it 3 weeks with it off). He's realized this will be a really hard month for me, I think, and is also making up for being a butthead earlier this month. He redesigned the coop brooder and I am loving it! Much more light and ventilation. And now I have more shelves to use for storage in the coop as well.

Welcome.
Yes, this is where we either whine about why we'd rather not be at work or distract each other with silliness and sarcasm....

Nice pic, Sparkles!

Thanks, today is one of those days ya know where I'd do anything to basically get the heck out of the office but deep down know it's not going to happen....

But, it's nice to know others feel the same way.

Are those geese or swans? I'm not familar with either. Sorry if it's a dumb question.

Would've been better if it hadn't ended.

Had to get DD up at 6:15 so she could get ready for the first day of band camp. Am

NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Some of you may recall the continuing problem with the neighbor's turkey. The darn turkey hen is regularly making excurisions into my yard. Last week, my husband had to resuce her: somehow she let our (slightly slow and getting older) dog corner her. Anywhoo, he saved her and tossed her over the fence--it was a flurry of flapping and cursing.

Then yesterday, my dad was over for dinner, and we were eyeballing my turkey poults. My dad was making silly turkey sounds to the birds & the grandkids and *boopboopboopboopboop* 5 little turkey poults popped up onto the neighbor's shed and then crossed the alley to my wall. Great.

I catch any of those little turds, I am keeping them. I catch their momma, and I am keeping her. I am not even going to eat her anymore---she's eaten enough (and crushed enough plants) in the garden she owes me at LEAST one breeding season, and I worry constantly about disease. Stupid turkey.

You already know me too well Laree. In all acutality, I would be the simpering mess hiding under my desk till the sun came back out.
