Oh good lord, I grew up in Los Angeles....its a stretch for me to live in a dinky house in the boonies with massive air conditioning. Where is my traffic? Cement yards? Houses that are only 10 feet apart?

I could not handle it. No way, no how. My house is like a fridge. I liiiiiiiike it like that.

LOL!! When I took the blue cockerel over there last week end I apologized to him before I handed him to Cheyenne. Told him sorry, but he was now in the land of cuddling and he'd better just get over it.

Isn't that the truth! And that girls does not take no for an answer!!

Glad you have some temp power, but don't let it amek you complacent. get the real thing before winter. I will not stop worrying until then...

I know I could live without creature comforts like A/C, cable, and internet, and even plumbing (been there, done that). I choose not to though. Tinkling on a tree loses its novelty after a mosquito bite or other pest in an inappropriate place. Outhouses STINK (literally). And with no a/c I never feel like I'm completely dry, but always on the verge of molding and mildewing

Ut-oh no AC?? Gosh I can't live without that. My DH wants to go live off the land more on a MTN somewhere and I said only if it has a generator for AC, Running Water, and my computer w/Internet!

Running water - check
Internet - nope
A/c - nope
refrigerator - nope

I thought it would be horrible, but honestly it's not that bad. The flies are driving me insane but they are bad everywhere. And I try remind myself, we are in a 8 acre field surrounded by horses and chicken. There are gonna be flies.

The worst part about being way out there is the raccoon and the coyotes. We have lots of both

Ahh so basically you only use the Internet when you are at the tack shop. Got it. I could probably do it except I need an AC unit I hate humidity. But, if my husband chooses a place that has a dry climate then maybe i could do without. Sounds nice except the coyote and raccoon part!

10-4 I need to reconsider now!

If I had coon I'd be finding a way to let a blue tick hound run around my coop. I love to hear them sing when they scent a coon. And those dogs are strong and TOUGH! I watched one stretch up and drag a neighbor's dog out of the neighbor's pick-up truck. Beat the crap out of the annoying Aussie POS.

DH refuses to have a dog. I am biding my time on that issue....

We still have the port a john - but honestly I'm at the store so much that it doesn't make that big of a difference. I'm here from like 9 til at least 730 or 8 every day.

Got running water, in door plumbing and A/c here! LOL! The dogs are too funny they want to come to town and lay in the a/c all day.

I can come and live in town at the land owner's place if I really needed to, but I want to hear my rooster crow and see my babies romping in the paddock and all that fun stuff. That is worth giving up the a/c and internet.

I like my running water, that would be the hardest thing to give up, but I've been without everything else many times (the ex was not the best provider so we always lived like we were camping) and dont mind it. I dont like AC it makes me too cold and I get sick from it. I usually shut my office door at work so the AC can't blow in and then open my window to let the hot air in. I want to be off the grid some day. DH doesnt really have that goal at all.

You have 'reality tv' LOL!

When Mom & Daddy were remoddleing the farmhouse we roughed it until they bought a POS trailer to live in (when they realized the remodel was not going to be a quickie job). I quickly grew jealous because bro did NOT have to drop his drawers to pee. Skeeters lurve them tender parts!! Especially the ones you can't see to swat at them

I'm thinking seriously about a Great Pyr. Seems they can solve the coon problem and the coyotes. I'm just concerned about the precious. She has to be in charge. Don't think mixing in a 1/2 grown or full grown, fully trained dog would go well.
