Hot out.. gotta stay hydrated!!!! Around 7ish when the chainsaw battery is recharged I am going to go back out.

I've been using a small 18v chainsaw, a pair of had held loppers and a 6hp push mower. I cut down brush ground level till the chainsaw heats up, while it's cooling I use the loppers, cutting at ground level... when I get tired out I get the push mower going and cut down all the little brushy viney things and mulch it about 4" off the ground. So far so good, many buckets of sweat and a few cocktails later....

My dad n grandpa technically own the property and I am forbidden so far from getting a brush hog too deep in. Want to push a trail back to the creek by sunday though.

Got home to one hen sitting on 12 eggs and another hen sitting on 15 eggs. The one on 15 isn't sure she wants to stay broody but we'll give her a chance.

Have two hens not sitting on eggs. Maybe we won't have to buy eggs.

I have a couple of broodies, too. My husband hates when I hatch and brood chicks in the house, so I'm trying to build up a broody flock to hatch and brood chicks in the great outdoors.

Summer is offically over in the Belle household; today was the first day of school. My son woke me up a half hour before my alarm was due to go off he was fully dressed for school and wanted me to fix a can of Campbell's chicken noodle soup for his lunch. I didn't hurt him, but it was a close thing.

I went to a swap this weekend and sold all but one of the chickens I brought, (but none of the rabbits.) Now I'm down to 5 standard laying hens for eating eggs (but one's broody) and a dozen or so young bantams. I've got 3.5 more months until Baby and now the chickens will be much easier to take care of. If only I could get rid of some of these rabbits...

What you need is to make it a single-life: have pictures of your chickens in your cubicle, and hold important meetings at your chicken run.
