Are your meds off again?
What meds?
No, actually I had a capillary in my eye burst which made me look scarier than usual. It kinda worried me because it was soooo bad, so I went to the opthalmalogist (say that 3 times fast, then try and spell it). She looked for foreign matter after dying my eyes and looking at them under a magnifier. Next, she had to see if there was internal bleeding in the eyeball itself. She said she could dialate my eyes, taking 20+ minutes plus 4 hours of bleary, light-sensitive eyes. That procedure is covered by insurance. OR...
She could use this new machine that takes a few seconds, costs $29, and creates a photo record of the interior of my eye that they can store on the computer. I absolutely despise having my eyes dialated, and I thought the photos would be cool. And they were! And now I don't have to be dialated on my next exam (worth the $ as well!).
Also, I could see that macular degeneration (a fear of mine, having known a sufferer of it) is not on my horizon. And that eyeballs are cool! And I saw my optic nerve ending, plus all the little blood vessels. And my dominate eye has a LOT more blood vessels than my non-dominant eye (isn't that interesting? I thought so).
And since they have those photos they can now watch for changes in my eyes over time, and catch issues earlier than ever before. Much like getting that initial mammogram when I hit "that age" (thanks doc), I now have a baseline of what is normal for me (headlights and fog lights).
I feel so space-age technomapped now
