LOL, how fun that thread has become. I'm afraid to even chime in.
My big fantastic way of dealing with my roosters is to mostly ignore them. They ignore me, I ignore them. They act snotty to me, I drop kick them into next week. I don't antagonize them, or force them to be touchy feely. I can't think of the last time I picked up one of my "flock roosters". If one of the young boys is being a jackarse, I will drop kick him into next week....but thats only because I find it annoying.
Yesterday one of the younger boys was having a grand ol time breeding the girls.....he was taking way too long with one girl...seriously, 5 seconds and you should be done. I gave him about 10 seconds and then walked over and knocked him off. It was mean to the girl to ignore him. A little while later he is hanging off another girls neck while she squawks and fights him. Knocked his butt off her too. Little while later he grabbed another girl, did his business and hopped off in about 5 seconds.
I ignored him.
Its not rocket science, right? They behave, I ignore them. They don't behave, I drop kick them into next week. I treat the hens the same way, LOL.
