Oh my oh my. We were the generation of reading-while-driving! Now it's texting-while-driving. But I'm sure we were better at our bad habits than these young folks with theirs.

I"m afraid to read the dragon type books. Isn't there some nasty violence in one of them (like the foreign movie)?

Yes, the Stieg Larsson books do have some ugly violence. But his characters are the kind of people you get attached to and worry about. And the the violence isn't any worse than what you can hear about on the evening news.

Did you hear about those poor kids who got locked in a closet for over 10 hours? Two of the five died. I can't imagine being 7 & 5 and knowing your siblings were in a bad way and dying and not able to do a thing about it. The 'mother' pushed a BED in front of the closet door so they couldn't get out

There is nothing in a book that can approach the horror of the real world.

Was that a thread title????

Yes. someone in the thread suggested the title be corrected to 'pipping', as they were on the wrong 'chick site' for the current title.

I love it!

Me too. And it probably got more attention to the thread than it might've otherwise.

Only "sometimes"?

You're a fine one to talk, Miss "Chapstick"...

Oh yeah, Miss Velvet Lips?

I love being in the middle of book. I love series books best of all, because you can read one right after another and it takes weeks to end. Makes me feel all shivery just thinking about it!

I got the 3rd book in the Girl/Dragon series yesterday, but did not even unwrap it. I don't have enough done on my to-do list, and I know nothing will get done beyond the basics once I start this book. The 2nd one was so exciting I was literally on the edge of my seat. DH was laughing at me, and reminding me to keep breathing!

I heard those books were good. I just logged onto our library's website and requested all 3 books. If my husband complains that I'm reading too much and nothing gets done, I'll just blame you.

I was talking about a cute alpaca.
YOU are the one who let her mind take a dip in the carnal cesspool....

Mom says #3 is just a good. She refused to admit if it was a cliffhanger, though.

There is a 4th book, but the author died before it went to the publisher. Since the girlfriend co-authored them, and has the 4th book, it may never get released. The father & brother of the author are refusing to let her have any of the proceeds from books 1-3. She's taking them to court to prove she co-authored them. If she wins, book 4 gets released. If she loses I don't know what will happen to it...

I just requested Follett's book "The Key to Rebecca" from our local library system. I didn't do it before because I was in the midst of three books. Now I just am finishing the one about the string quartet. I read a lot of it yesterday while sitting with the chickens.
