woot woot, friiiiiiiiday is here and work is done, yay.

Off to lexington tomorrow to see the dear boyfriend. Got all the chicken stuff done today for the weekend....doing house stuff now. Gonna build new outdoor rabbit cages next week. Anyone want a bunny? LOL

Dh says one 'rat' is enough (guinea pig).

Earlier this evening he'd said, "Isn't every answer a 'yes' with you?"
I said, "If that were true I'd have an alpaca." He laughed.

And on the idea of becoming foster parents he said, "I'd almost rather get the alpaca!"
So, we've initiated the parameters for negotiation....

Things that make you go hmmmmnnnn.

But they are soooooo cuuuuuute. And both are litterbox trained. Stella the gray rex bunny and Monroe the lionhead mix.

So cute and friendly.

So terrified and ridiculous. LOL.

I think her eyes may pop out of her head some day.

Well, she is close to me, but my world is in an uproar at the moment. And luckily, only the lionhead is appealing...

I don't know if the plan will come together or not. I don't know if I'm getting the new flock or not. I am just cleaning up and prepping for winter, and wondering what tomorrow will bring.

Hope you had a great day!

Today I got up at 8am, ran errands until 9:15, then helped DH clean the coop.
At 10am I got busy getting DD ready for her band trip, and wasn't back home until 11:45. Finished with the coop (after DH made his modifications), put stuff away, and got cleaned up.
Off at 1pm, and went to a Greek Festival where I stocked up on baklava and had a slice of spanikopita (good stuff, need the recipe). Then we went to Beaner's working neck of the woods and hit Gander Mountain (new warm pants for both of us, sale rack), Party City (no sword-shaped cocktail picks), Pet Smart (GP supplies, herbal spray & cat treats), Hobby Lobby (too much to list), Sprint store (bust), and the liquor store (amaretto). By 4pm we were headed to Carrabba's for dinner (soup, salmon, bread & taters washed down with 2 of their amaretto margaritas). Then to Kroger and then home.
Unloaded the van, finished with the coop & chickens, then lit a bonfire and hung out while I drank a homemade amaretto margarita.
Came in, took my second shower of the day, ate some baklava, and now I'm listening to DH snore while I wait for DD's bus to get back.

Considering I only had 5 very stress-filled hours of sleep I am AMAZED that I can still function. After 2 glasses of water I'm feeling rather sober, too.

Tomorrow Claudia (allaboutdempeeps) is coming over to visit for a bit. I'm so proud. The coop is winterized and smells like clove oil & shavings. I'm sure the birds will besmirch it by morning though. Once we'd emptied the coop DH took the leaf blower and blew all the dust out of it. It hasn't been this clean since we built it.
I sprayed the cat (Jezebel) with the clove-scented Nature's Remedy spray I got at Pet Smart. She was not amused. I had a lot of it on me, and noticed that the skeeters were not amused. I think I like this stuff! I sprayed a couple of chickens with it, and will get their opinion in the morning. If they seem fine a few more will get treated. Stupid birds keep playing in the woods, and my stupid chickens play in the woods, and every time I think "AHA! I have ERADICATED the lice!" they mock me by coming back in again. So the runs are dusted with a Sevin/DE blend, as are the floors (under shavings) and nest boxes. But if the spray works, I'll use it on the birds since it repels skeeters as well. Spikely didn't seem to mind but Spikely's a tad 'special' already. He rides the poultry short bus....

Oh well. Guess I'll find a good movie to watch for a few since DH is definitely NOT watching lobsters get hauled out of the sea.

Hope ya'll had a great weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can see this - waiting until a moonless night, wearing dark clothes, sneaking up to the stairs, dropping the box and tearing off into the night.

Actually, I found a recipe for double chocolate cookies on the Fiber One website. Uses unsweetened cocoa and white chocolate chips, and I put less sugar in than the recipe required. Danged if those things aren't fantastic! I mean, really. I'd make them just for the taste and the crunch of the cereal.

I find this exciting. And I'm only 49 [

Orchy, you are a cutie! Whooda thunk it? Brains, love of chickens, wit, dorkiness AND cuteness! Wow!

And don't you hate whisker burns! I keep having to remind my DH that my face is not made of teflon.

Beans, them are some wicked pretty bunnies. But may I suggest that the second bunny has probably observed you nursing your chocolate eyeball habit one too many times. [Send vet shrink to your house now.]

Another stiflingly boring day in the The Life Of Lori.
