Yeah, well, every time a doctor has told me I "may experience some discomfort", once I've peeled myself off the ceiling I'd like to poke their eyes out with a spoon. None of that nonsense for me! Of course, being four, she may just kick him in the face. And rightly so!

Its not fun getting a catheter, I know. But it is so routine for them. I would say for the first time maybe sedation or numbing might be good, for the stretch she'll probably feel, and if you are not relaxed, well, its gonna hurt.
I used to have to have stuff injected into my bladder pretty routinely for awhile there, and only the first time did they do some sort of numbing, after that, nope.
