BTW, I think it would be cheaper to feed all wet food and do a dental every year......than to feed dry food and have a miserable cat who is costing you an arm and a leg in vet fees for FUS problems

I had to justify it that way myself. $50 in food per month, or $100+ in vet bills every month and a miserable cat? Now, I switched him to a "cheaper" food so it is not $50 a month, but the same idea. I'd rather spend it on food and have a happy cat, then vet bills and have a miserable cat.

I have noticed no difference in teeth between wet and dry food. My pets still get bad breath and dental decay eating dry food only.

Hahahaha! I just came to a work order in my billing pile - tech comments - "BARFFFF in my mouth it was gross! Removed Living HairBomb from tub drain."

So you are at 25% on the vitamin thing. that's progress, right??

Don't know about the MP3 player. I am on an iPod learning curve, wondering if I can manually delete pictures and songs without hooking up to a 'puter....

My DH will attest to the fact that I really don't worry about the money aspect of it. If it cost me $200 a month but I was guaranteed he would stay in good health and never pee anywhere but the litterbox again - I would fork out that $200 with a SMILE on my face. And drink my boxed wine and eat cheap hot dogs with a SMILE on my face.

I truly hate the smell of cat pee.

Well, if I were you, especially right now while he is having a PROBLEM, I would feed wet food only. He will think he has died and gone to heaven. Get as much liquid into the cat as you can. Can in the morning, can in the evening....conveniently let a few human glasses get left laying around for him to "steal" from. Get him a fancy schmancy water fountain to drink from....maybe even add some water to his canned food to up the moisture content.

With Norman, I had methigel on hand. If I noticed any sprinkling in the litterbox, I would give him that for a few days to help dissolve the crystals. Once his pee was normal he would come off of it. After the last tube expired without ever being used, I stopped keeping it on hand. Now, if I notice a sprinkle I just give him an extra can of food or two.

Speaking of cats....we found our missing cat. She's been living under our shed all these weeks with an unknown feral cat and even though she's lived with us for 9 years, she runs from us and refuses to come anywhere near us. I've been feeding them, but we need to get a live trap and catch her. She's spayed, but her shots aren't up to date so I don't want to leave her there.

Wow, glad to see you've caught her. Once they are out on their own, they kind of "wild up"....i bet once you catch her and have her inside for a day or two she will calm right back down. May as well trap and fix the feral while you're at it too! LOL

Tractor Supply has traps for very cheap. Usually a two pack (1 "cat size" and 1 squirrel size) for like $30 or $35.
