My husband and I where talking. We will be talking with some congress people that he knows. We are 99% sure they are not doing this correctly (I'll give a 1% room for error) and we do have a case against them. Which we will pursue.
Not to mention my civil rights are being abused with comments like Move back to Canada!
For me and my Family to be abused so. I can not sit back and allow it to just pass.
And I do want my Chickens. I would never have gotten them in the first place if I did not want them ...lol
That would be the height of idiocy, and irresponsibility as an animal owner.

I just had some Guineas hatch, you want some, then when you offer to get rid of those(but you'll love them and want to keep them) the neighbours will never again complain about chickens.

Seems like the town is trying to see if they can get some money from you. I would hold off on the variance until after you talk to the State Attorney General.

These people have no clue. Why would you spend money on a variance when there is no law or regulation to vary?

Eh, local government sucks. The old code enforcer used to be all over my in-laws. They did have some work needing to be done on some property that they didn't live on, so the code enforcer harassed them at their current house as well. He tried to cite them for having a junk car, that wasn't even junk by the definition of the law (it ran and had a current registration, etc) but besides that I have a copy of the ordinance and ONE junk car is ALLOWED - so he couldn't even cite them if it was junk.

Suddenly all these problems stopped when we got a different code enforcer. Stupid people just abuse their power to push other people around because it makes em feel bigger I guess. Don't let em bully you!!!

Ok here's what I'm thinking for a little fun. Plan a conversation just for your neighbor to overhear. Something about "gee I hope they don't find out about the ....(something ridiculous) ". See if they harrass you for that. Ok, but don't really take my advice. It might be an illegal act of encouraging a false police report or something like that.
