Ended Official 2020 BYC Halloween Hatch-Along

Pics
I finally got 14 eggs set at 9:30, 8 blue bresse and 6 white bresse. Temp is right on 99.8 degrees but the humidity is off by 10%, I got the humidity up at 35% using the hygrometer that came in today. I have the eggs in an egg carton due to the air cells. Keeping me fingers crossed for the :jumpy

I will have to start tomorrow. Was gone for a week and help collected from wrong pens. :hit
Really don’t want to hatch what they did collect. Kinda bummed will recollect my thoughts on this and try again tomorrow. Something ate the eggs that would have been in the coop I wanted. Hopefully it’s just a squirrel I really don’t want it to be the chickens which is what I’m afraid it is.

On positive note all birds are alive. :wee
Yesterday started early for me (about 3:30 AM) and was so tiring I fell asleep early. I woke up in time to do the fumigation and finally set the eggs at midnight. I ran the heat up to 103 for a bit till I was sure the internal egg temp was good and then turned it down to 100. After a couple days I'll try to keep it at 99.5. I can envision most hatching around 'trick or treat' time.
I set 28 eggs but some may not hatch as they are over 10 days old.

Since I only have 2 hens for the Pita Pintas I was storing the eggs in fridge in hopes to collect enough to make a difference. So I had the ones I collected before I left for a week and hopefully more during the week. When I opened the carton to check sizes there were White Cornish eggs and the PP I collected.
On that note do you happen to know what weights the White Cornish eggs should be. Mine seem small at average of 46 grams. Not much that I could fine online.

I don't know the exact weight but I know they are supposed to be medium to large. So that makes your eggs light for the breed. Under 50 grams would be light.
As much of a stickler that I am for proper egg weight, over time you can correct that if your birds have other redeeming qualities and/or are very rare. Apparently they aren't very common. I found one hatchery and two NPIP breeders in MO with white Cornish.

I am at a crossroads! My eggs were a bit late to arrive (farmer I sourced from forgot to bring them to last market, so I just picked them up today). I can set for a post-Halloween hatch, but my Husband changed his mind and said no more new chicks until Spring...

Can I use y'all as bad role models and have you peer pressure me into hatching?
Hatch the eggs
You went through all the trouble to get them, you might as well

That’s my problem. They are getting very hard to find. And some of the ones I’ve seen are not even close to conforming. The two breeders I got mine from LA and PA are no longer keeping them. I was sure the eggs from them were a bit bigger. The hens however are more bantam in size and they are supposed to be large fowl.
My Dark Cornish hens were bigger so I also tried crossing with White Cornish to see if I could get hens bigger. That’s working but it will be a long time to get them where I thought they should be.

I see dark Cornish all the time.

I was mistaken. The breeder only has bantams. She lives in the town my brother lived in.
So Estes is the only place in MO with LF white Cornish. At least their listing in the Missouri Poultry Yearbook says they have them.
