Thanks, it came as a shock. That my most active bird fell so ill. It apeared to be some kind of liver issue. Sadly there was nothing I could do, just bad genetics with her linage. She died at the age of 2 Unfortunately. She would have had a better life if the hatchery actually cared enough to cull out sick chickens.
I've had birds with bad genetics too, it's a tough road to travel. No matter what the issue it's always heartbreaking when they pass. :hugs

The worst part is, that nothing you do will help. As it’s just their genetics. I just wished that hatchery’s would do a better job, at least cull the sick ones.

On the other hand. Ive gotten some okay quality birds from hoovers before. Like nearly breeder quality. but from cackle. (Where she is from) Ive had nothing but a headache. Ive lost 3 birds from cackle just from bad genes. Vs 0 to hoovers. (So far) (the birds I lost are: her, a red sexlink, and a EE.)

Another part of me is glad I never bred her.

Years ago I purchased 3 Plymouth Barred Rocks from Privett Hatchery here in New Mexico. All 3 had liver disease as well, the first one died at 1 year old, the other 2 at 2 years old. And yes there isn't much you can do to save them and yes, breeding them is disastrous! So I totally understand!

A month or so ago I lost Napoleon my silkie mix cockerel. Reasons unknown. I believe it was genetic issues, as it was totally random. He was by far the sweetest male I've had with his ladies when it came to such a young bird. He was a great introduction to bantams and bantam males. I'd really love some offspring of his, but in hindsight, it wouldn't have been a good decision

I am so sorry fluffy, :hugs it's always the sweet ones that pass too soon. :(

Gold (double?) laced barnevelder cockerel, almost 8 months old. Large fowl.

Also another question (sorry!), he will be judged with the American standard? Cause I think the American standard calls for a black chest while the Australian say laced...

I'm one of the judges - we judge to the American SOP. Provided we decide to do this the same as last year for the category of purebreds, faults would detract from the bird's score, just like in a real show, but as long as it's not an outright DQ, the bird will still get judged and scored :)

Breed: silkie bantam
Color: black
Sex: rooster
Age: 10 months
