What do you think about these topics?

1. How I would train a mean rooster (and the science behind it) - detailing the "change of emotion leads to change of behavior)" principle and explaining a little about learning theory, classical conditioning, e.t.c

2. "How to train a dog to be calm near chickens - the gentle way" - explaining the process I teach (I'm a positive reinforcement based teacher of dog trainers) for getting a dog from chasing to calm without using punishment or anything that induces fear or pain, as well as these limitations of training programs vs. genetics, etc.

I can also write about teaching your chickens a recall ;)
These are some really good ideas!! Cant wait to read your article!

I'm intending on writing an article on treating Sour Crop. There's some already, but I think I'm going to make mine easier to understand and more detailed.
Wonderful idea! Let me know I want to be the first to read it. I am new at all this "modern, google" chicken raising. I talk to myself so much in the coop. It's like talking to a friend who likes doing all this chicken stuff too. Wouldn't that be a concept? Have a place here to just bable about our babies. I have noticed the majority of the "Chick Chat" is about incubated chicks. My only experience with incubated eggs was in high school biology class. But that's a story for later. Honor student fails Biology because she refused to murder 60 developing embryos. My first dance with chicks was 20 two-day-olds from Tractor Supply 21 yrs ago. Pre-internet for this midnight nurse. So all of this is Brand new to me. My babies are homegrown. I was babysitting our Dr.'s flock. One rooster and six hens. (The Roo was orange and red, 2- blk shinny(s) 1- real red, 1-brown ticked like a groundhog, & 2- blk. and white like a cross betwiin a Barrel and Rock) At least 100 eggs from July to Sept. One of the black hens with metallic highlights started getting broody. I started just leaving the eggs alone. All the girls were laying eggs just fine. I started putting them all in the same nest. Blk. mom took up the chore. Now we have 6, 7 week olds. 3- blk. and brown's, 2girls 1 boy, 2 yellows, girls and a white with black highlights boy! Thats what got me here looking for clairity on the topic of dust bath with wood ash and DE and sand. No one is talking volum. 1:1 :1 or 2:1:1. The DE is toxic if not done right and these are MY Babies. Ignoenice and mediorce are not acceptiable in the Land of Mc Mobley's. Yes by all means write, shair so I can learn too.

I know such an article probably wouldn't fit the requirements of the contest but I thought I'd ask you guys here!

What would you all think of an article that shows photos of birds which have been placed at shows?

Pretty much one big collection of poultry which have won in shows.

There will be basic information on the birds in the photos with things such as which class they were in, country, age of the bird, breed etc. I won't be writing about any of the standards though.

This is just so people can have a quick glance over the breeds and get an 'idea' of what good specimens of the breeds are.

I will only be using photos of birds owned by people here on BYC or as long as they have the owners permission to post the birds/photos.
