Sorry everyone! I posted my newest article here before realizing this was for coop articles. I deleted my post, hopefully I haven't confused anyone.

Well, I won't be entering THIS contest! The coop designs here are gorgeous (I read and drool...), but my coop was built long ago -- as a goat shed!! When we had goats, a friend threw 4 hens over the fence as a present, and that's how we got started with chickens. The chickens at first were kept in a rabbit hutch at night, but they lived in the pen with the goats. Eventually we sold the goats and the rabbits, and now have just the chickens. The pen got downsized and reinforced (goats were great deterrents for chicken predators), but even so, it's definitely a makeshift coop and run!! But I still love it , and wouldn't trade my chickens for a herd of goats - or any number of rabbits, cute as they can be!

Best one on the block at least! Surprisingly, since starting to keep chickens, two other neighbors have also put up coops and have little cluckers that I can hear from time to time -- and we're in the suburbs with small plots.
