Elsa has just hatched two quail chicks for us. She's been fantastic so far. We just have to watch the chicks when she gets up for a stretch as they are so tiny. The kids have named the dark one Flower and the yellow one Spook. Spook hatched on Halloween and its going to be white so it's a very fitting name. Spook is a whole week younger than Flower and Elsa did not get off her nest for that week we were all waiting - she's a saint! I fed, watered and cleaned up after her as best I could for that time but she wasn't giving up on the little egg. Thankfully quail chicks are very needy and cuddly for that first week so she didn't feel the need to get up to take care of Flower.
Ah, stink eye broody, I have the perfect candidate .. Blondie!
Some of you would have seen multiple pictures of Blondie in Blondzilla mode and besides puffing up, planking and pancaking she also does what I think is a particularly good stink eye
Blondie is a Pekin [bantam Cochin] and is coming up to 3 years of age.
