Third hobby is cooking. It is so fun! I like pies, fudge, cake decorating and ice cream the best! I have been doing this since I could read a recipe and it is so much fun!

My hobby started as having farm with amazing show quality dairy goats, miniature horses and full size horses, however, that path changed. Now half of my farm is rescue and rehoming. I have a permanent rescue resident here named Hazel:

I was browsing on Craigslist under the farm and garden section and found Hazel. She was a $50 bag of bones. Made a deal to have the owners deliver her for another $20. She got to me and it was worse than I thought. Skin and bones, worms, a hole in her upper left teat so she had milk constantly streaming from it, broken ribs, and highly copper deficient. Look at her now! She is with us forever.

We also went to the shelter and came home with a super awesome mastiff whom was starved, kept in a house full of poo from him and four other mastiffs, and was covered in sores and poo and urine burns. We named him Seamus and he now fits right in with the farm! The mini zebu, Uno, and my emus, Vanessa and Gus, love Seamus!!

We have gone as far as taking in other peoples goats who need to sell but don’t want to take their pets to auction. I keep them here and find homes for them and give peace of mind to precious owners. Here are some of our temporary residences looking for new families:

Thanks to a wonderful person on BYC I also am the proud mama of two blind Muscovy ducks. The woman that hatched them didn’t know what to do so I offered to take them as I have other special needs birds. She did such a great job socializing them and keeping them healthy. They now live here with me and are happy and healthy. They are permanent residents here too:

The list goes on but this is my hobby and even tho it doesn’t make any money, it’s still gratifying knowing they are safe and loved.

My hobby is hanging out with animals and studying them. I’ve been studying them for 6 years now, I hope to become a wildlife biologist in the future!

Another hobby of mine is art. It’s relaxing to draw and paint.

Now, on to my official entry #1 - Halloween Special Effects and Costumes

Didn't do anything this year, but here are some highlights of past costumes and whatnot. Back in the day, I'd start planning for next Halloween on Nov 1st, adjjusting as I go. To pull of a decent Rick Sanchez, I bought another 3D printer (dual material Delta from a kit) specifically to handle the materials used - but that is a different entry

Testing on my youngest, way back when. Simple, but effective.

And on me - not as easy one handed.

More practice, I think I'm getting better. Can't wait to show it all off when Halloween comes!

Be careful with that staple gun - LOL! Not too shabby, eh? This one was fun. Skin flaps flopping around, all oozy.... yeah. Liquid latex, tissue paper (2 ply) and makeup.

I like how this one 'scabbed up' a bit.

It's Halloween! I just finished this one off in time to attend a parent-principal meeting with my youngest son. Something about inappropriate behavior. Walked to the front desk (with effects covered), and was asked if they could help me. Seizing the opportunity I showed them my wrist and asked to see the nurse. Was a pretty fun meeting with said principal.

A facial appliance, some gore, a bit of broken bone jutting out of my arm. Where's my Scotch?

What happened here?

My favorite piece ever though has to be 'Undead Jim' - Think classic Star Trek redshirt Zombie Started with a pretty rough 'zombie' costume with some usable rubber/plastic parts which all had to be repainted by hand.

Now, I need some costume bits. First up - insignia! Using an original (if old and quite used) Technical manual, some plastic wrap, fabric paint, and glitter, and viola!

Close up of the plastic appliance which was sewn onto black thermal underwear, with the custom tunic (a distressed red sweatshirt) pulled over - this allowed the tunic to move freely over the gorey bits underneath.

Entry #2 - Coloring

Back when I was working 24/7 as a deep-level computer geek, I'd spent looong hours on technical calls waiting for something to happen. I grabbed some colored pencils and some coloring books from Amazon. Due to lack of sleep, MOST turned out pretty bad, but I like these.

Hoping to do more of this one I've settled in and have stuff more or less running as I'd like it.
