How about, "Not right now but intend to in the future"?

I had an accidental rooster in the in-town flock. I don't have one with this first batch of starter hens on the country property but when I expand the flock next year I intend to have at least one, possibly two (depending on what facilities we build and how things work out).

In nearly 15 years of chicken keeping I rarely kept one on purpose. Getting fertile eggs or just hatched chicks for a broody hen was easy and my goals were egg based so I did not need them. Nearly all the roos I ended up with (because it always happens) during that time were, well...not nice, so found themselves dwelling elsewhere in a variety of places, just no longer on my farm!

Currently I lucked out with a really nice (and quiet) Australorp roo so he gets to stay and thus far is making gorgeous blue babies.
And, for the first time ever, early this year I purposely purchased male chicks plus bought shipped eggs in the hopes of getting some males. I did, so now I'm on a breeding adventure and am hoping to keep 3 or 4 more around permanently.

In the past I have purposely kept tom turkeys and love them!

Two beautiful roosters -- one Japanese Bantam cockerel, Simnel, and one OEGB rooster, Zapraska.
I also have an obsessively friendly guinea rooster, Spook.

Great idea for an option!

I don't know how many roosters I have. 🤷‍♀️ They're handsome, though. I have two each of Buff and Partridge Chanteclers (mixed, straight run order). A couple Lt Brahma & a bunch of cute mutts. As long as they don't cause trouble I guess I'll keep the ones I like best. Otherwise they're nice as dinner guests.

I didn't know you had Buff Chanteclers. :highfive:
