our coop with a run and an attached run(a 10 x 10 x 6 kennel) have chicken wire attached to the bottom of the panels/frames that go 2 feet down and sloped with barbed wire set in. This will definitely deter any predator.
thought i would post a picture since we are adding a second 10 x 10 run. It is zip tied to the bottom of the fence and pole

Keep an eye on zip ties. Rodents chew zip ties, coons just break them. Weather/sun/temps dry rot them. Pls, can you replace with chain lin fence ties ? or clamps?

Coyotes attacked twice this year, I have cattle around my property. The first time they took a huge piece of skin from my dogs leg (took more than 2 months to heal!) and the second time they killed a bunch of chicken. So I had to fence with cyclon and put blocks under so they couldn't dig. What a problem, they eat EVERYTHING - except for ducks for some reason they don't like them - and they have no predators.

Where I live there are no raccoons , so I don’t need complicated latches. But we do have foxes now and then, and polecats, marters are a possible threat too (in the night). And sometimes we have birds of pray too. Mainly buzzards but I spotted a sparrow-hawk in the pear-tree near the run once too. Because my Dutch are really small this a real hazard.

I keep the chickens in a coop with much hwc and a run with strong netting and hwc (also buried in the ground). Between the coop (quit safe) and the run (less safe) I have an automatic pop door to keep the chickens safe at night.

They stay in the run most of the day and if nobody is at home. But for their health and joy i let the chickens free range too. There wings are not cut. My Duch are good in escaping to safe places. They fly easily on top of the run or over the hedge to the neighbour whenever they spot a dog.
That's wonderful
