Methodology:
I went back to the very first post and added them all up.

• I added all birds for which a count was given (chickens and ducks)
• I added up when a poster simply listed theirs rather than give a total
• I ignored follow up posts ("this is so messed up!") unless they added to the total ("I forgot to count the 6 hens")
• I ignored double posts

I tallied at every 50 posts to make sure my numbers were correct (well, as correct as they can be).

Good shot at it adcgroup. I think it's just a chicken census from what the first post said, though a few ducks and guinea fowl seem to have slipped through, but not many. Maybe a future census would have us putting in our numbers directly to a count without trying to total it up (WAY too many mistakes). I hope your count is seen as the checkpoint from which someone will continue on a reliable add-on later rather than everyone trying to do a running total. It just doesn't work.
