My best chicken, Flo, died on Friday. She was looking a little bit peaky in the morning; just slow and not eating much, and when I got home she was dead.
Autopsy revealed impacted gizzard with Cleavers/goosegrass/sticky willy seed. Feel bad because I could have attempted to clear the gizzard but think she was probably poisoned by the seeds - her comb was a bit bluish suggesting poor circulation/oxygen transfer. I knew sticky willy seeds could be a problem and try to get rid of it as much as possible but some always gets to seed stage.
She would have eaten them last weekend when she was out in the garden. She was looking great with new post-moult feathers, back on the lay and healthy as anything. I shall be eradicating the sticky willy completely this year.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
