1 rooster, was told it is a black rock; 10 each of barred and black rocks; two "tester" red sex links to prove that my coop and run would be able to keep out the coyotes and raccoons (diesel, my German Shepard proved the electric fence worked!), and five little "I don't know who was the daddy or mommy" poults/cockerels all donated from my father-in-law. I loved getting the eggs from him, and when he offered them to us, I jumped at the chance. A four hour ride in the rain didn't even scare them enough to stop laying! They consistently lay about 9-10 eggs a day. One of them just died a couple days ago. Not sure why, but I don't know their ages either. Quickly disposed of it before my kids could see what happened (they were in the run and it was in the attached coop).
I'm a newbie to this and my friend and I take care of them out at my land. We both have young children and its the highlight of their day to go and see them! I've learned quite a bit from this forum in the past couple of months of having these. And just to irritate my my wife even more, built an incubator and am letting some quail eggs I bought online and a few of the eggs from our chickens perculate in there to see what happens. Candled them already and saw embryos in the 8 eggs for the chickens. Did I mention the 25 ring neck pheasant chicks in the garage, too? Thank God I have the children on my side!
