I used to have a 7x7 shed that I had 6 hens in, shavings on the floor (over a shaking of DE), a shelf with PDX under the Roosts that I cleaned every day (it also had a little DE in it).
Under roost got Sifted like kitty litter every day when I collected eggs, floor once a year.
Nest boxes had Hay that got changed out once a month maybe or if someone pooped in it.
If it was a Very wet season and the floor shavings looked bad I would change it out.

I got rod of my hens a few years ago since I thought I was moving, it didn't happen. Now I am looking for 2 old hens just to have hang out. They will live in a small coop with BIG free range netted yard. I am sure that I will do the same cleaning.
Once you get on a roll witha system and how easy it is, you don't really think about it :)

There seem to be a lot of people in this world that live for drama and look-at-me, and they have pretty much taken over a lot of social media, especially with visuals. It winds up creating a sense of anxiety in readers of "oh no, am I supposed to be doing this?!", and then we're off and running.

I find the very term "influencer" absolutely nauseating.

I wholeheartedly agree!

I hear you, the new generation is doing things that we find it .....grrrr

I am at that age, I find the new generation is grrrrr, and I am also feeling grrrrrr when my mom is doing certain thing.😄

This is the part where I should put in the thread...I am so old I remember.......life used to be pimplier than now.

Haha!

I don't think it is just young people, in their 20s. I find it is a lot of 40-somethings, 30s, even +50 year olds who are like that.

I scoop out the coop daily and the run every two days. It doesn't take long as we are using sand. Deep cleaning once a month because I'm extremely OCD and can't handle it being messy

I clean out the coop once a year. Whether it needs it or not!
The poop boards are cleaned every morning. The floor of my coop gets very little poop in the bedding as the birds go out to the run as soon as they come off the roost and wait there for me to release them.
When winter really bears down, they will spend more time hunkered down in the bedding of the coop.View attachment 2583454
I'll be doing a cleaning next month. It'll get hit with a spray down of Elector PSP when I've emptied it and before I bed it down.
What type of bedding do you think you'll be using. I'm in Adelanto, Ca. and we experience very warm summers 100°+ and 30°+winter. I'm just finished up my coop and run and still unsure of what type of bedding to use. What's your thoughts on this 🤔🐔🐓

Pine shavings or hemp both work fine.
