I am enjoying raising chicks and learning about chicken keeping. It’s a whole new adventure in my life.

My chickens are a bit spoiled. I love them a lot.

I keep chickens for many reasons, but I have to say companionship is number 1. It’s such a good feeling having some fluffy buffs run up to you in the morning for treats. Chickens all have such distinct personalities, and interacting with them is like interacting with any other pet for me.

That sounds like me.

My favorite minutes of chicken keeping are when my hens talk to me. I don't talk back much, mostly mmhm... yeah? ...ok... uh huh.
One in particular jibbers away at me as she eats
So i put companionship as #1.
I sure like the feeling of getting eggs and a slightly sustainable existence, meat grown in my yard. And garden health was sorely lacking before i got fertilizer-makers.

And history. I am considering adding Dominiques to my list of desired breeds in hope of being able to bring a few exhibition birds to American Revolution historical reenactments and events (DH works at a Rev War site).
