I didn't even realize there what a Christmas hatch post until someone pointed it out to me yesterday! I'm expecting some chicks on or the day after Christmas. I've never hatched chicks before but my blue orpington went broody and I decided to put a couple eggs under her that were most likely viable. After 8 days, she's still setting! I haven't candled yet. I might try doing it today, though. Not sure I'll know what I'm doing but will try

One is from my EE and the other from my red star. I'm guessing the father is my buff wyandotte, but always possible it's my EE.
Been bringing food and water to momma (Gilly) several times a day so she won't be too hungry/thirsty and she gets off the nest once every day or two for a little bit.
I was surprised to get a broody in such cold temps, but maybe the cold temps started it...
Anyway, count me in!!
