I just bought a little flashlight (3 cel AAA) and candled my 2 eggs out there. So exciting! In the brown egg, I could see the veins and the eye spot. In the EE egg, it was darker on one half of the egg but I couldn't see any veins or anything like that. Are they both viable then or is it maybe because one shell is thicker than the other?

I am super excited! Yesterday I candled my 34 eggs at day 8 and have what looks to be good viening on 31of them. One had nothing going on and 2 had blood rings. For a venture that started with not so good odds, I could not be happier! This could be the best christmas gift.

Out of 17 eggs i put in the incubator 5 were clear so I hope the remaining 12 will hatch!! 11 more days!!!!

so I was wondering...whats the general concensus on hatching... do you get better hatches using a carton with the bottom cut out, or just laying them on their sides? If it matters, I'm talking about in a still air...
