Official Christmas Hatch! c'mon and join

tecknodoll- please don't give up. If they were due today, they could just be running late. I've read on here that some have hatched even a week after their due date. I think that it is too early to give up hope.

Hey everyone- I have a question

The first chick is running around making a general nuciance of itself, pecking at the other two's eyeballs and butts, and stepping all over them. When do I take it out? I've read that people leave them in until they all have hatched but the other two in there are not getting any rest with this troublemaker. My BCM eggs have not show any sign of life so they may be in there for who knows how many days longer.

Corny Chick, I am in the same situation, however since yesterday was technically day 18 I decided to lockdown despite the differents sizes, etc because I feared those ones that filled the eggs would start to pip and humidity wouldnt be high enough etc for the hatch. I had real issues getting humidity up and as is, it's only at 51% but I'm working on it. Temps are pretty much stable where they have been between 100 and 102. I saw movement in the majority when I candeled last night but there were about 3 out of my 15 that the egg was so full all I could see was darkness...so fingers crossed we'll see how it goes! I am in the process now of trying to figure out how to set my webcam up to a live feed since I am not going to have time to hover over the bator the next few days...if I can set up a live feed, I can check in periodically from my phone! Lol
Keep me up dated as to what's going on!
Everyone else... WOW! Day 19!!! bring on those babies!!!

Congrats to all the new chickie mommas!

I like using egg cartons at lock down because a stable egg is easier to hatch from. Cutting the sides of the carton helps when they start to push with their feet against the shell. If the eggs are too snug in the carton, they will have too much resistance and will wear themselves out while trying to break free. Cartons also keep egg hockey to a minimum.

I think this is going to be the toughest part. Far as I can tell my humidity has been in the 20s. I am going to layer sponges in the bottom to hike it up during lockdown. I have a few eggs that are completely dark (the smaller eggs) and some that still have quite a bit of growing to do. But all are moving still. I have kept my temp 99-101 for the duration. I am just worried that the increased humidity is going to cause the larger eggs that are a bit behind to drown. Really that is my only fear right now.

yep, I'm with ya and I have to take a pic and show you how my sponges are layered LOL The poor chicks aren't going to have any room once they're out! At this point I'll be happy if I can get it to 55-60%! Still not breaking 52% with all the wells, sponges, and warm water! I was running high 20s to lo 30's for the past week here.

Day 20 & I'm cool as a cucumber! Not worried, stressed, anxious, concerned, having up & down thoughts racing through my head, obsessing, etc....... There's no peeping, pipping, egg rocking, zipping....... just the calm before the storm. It's quiet, too quiet. Temps & humidity have been stable, so no drama. Oh, did I say I'm not worried.......

Well, time to get off to work, so I can not worry there!

Congrats to all you "hatchers & pippers"! So fun hearing the details & seeing the occasional pictures.

Good thoughts are with you & fingers are crossed, technodoll.

Unless a Christmas miracle happens and these are just "late bloomers", I'll just have to live vicariously through you all for chicks!

Please post lots of pics to warm my broken heart!!
