Guilty as charged, but other than the squirrel revival this is my other fav ray stevens song.

Clown hair does not scare me.

I asked this on the nonreligious thread and thought that it would be interesting to post here. What do you feel are the most common misconception that people have about pagans?

That they worship the devil.

DH had a friend who when he learned that DHs wife was pagan flipped out about how we worship the devil. DH explained that the "devil" is a christian construct so how could pagans worship something they don't believe in??
The friend went on about the pentagram and DH pointed out that it was upside down, to which friend said, "What difference does that make?" DH said, "Does an upside down cross mean the same thing to you??"

This has come up many times.

That I'm just "lost" and NEED to be "saved". I can't tell you how many people I've had try to bring me to Christianity. Thanks, tried it, no thanks!

Blessed Be.

And when you wont listen to them, they don't talk to you anymore.

Oh the devil one is the most common one I have come across. I had a cop tell me when I was 16 that they would find me dead tied to a tree someday cause that's "dangerous stuff". If I knew then what I know now I would have had that mans badge hanging on my wall right now. Another one is if we can curse people. Which isn't really a misconception, cause you can...it's just not recommended, but everyone seems to think that's what we do all day long. You cut me off on the expressway, I curse you. You took the last chocolate doughnut, I curse you (that one is tempting, lol) etc. you get the point. I read lots of information on Voodoo, but I rarely tell anyone that, lest they think I will turn them into a zombie.

Do you know that the guy that used to show up at major sporting event back in the late 70's and 80's with clown hair ("Rainbow Man") was a mad bomber??!!

I did not know that but I will look him up.

Slightly off topic. I was reading about Erzluie Dantor the other day. My knowledge of voodoo is very limited but I found her interesting.
