According to my sources and what I was taught years ago. Imbolc (which is also called Brigits day) is Ireland worshiping day for Her and it is on Feb 1. Candlemas is also on Feb 1 or 2 and is in honor of Brigit from all of Europe. So both days are correct depending on orientation.

Beautiful, CoopCrazy!!!

I'm glad this thread is still going. I'm going to be out of town, attending a convention in San Jose until Monday, so I'll talk to you all then.
Blessed Be!

The Six of Swords

The Lord of Science appears in a reading when we have passed through a stormy or difficult time, and into the safety of a sheltered harbour, where we can recuperate, and consider the difficulties which have arisen around us.

Often we will have passed through a period of dreadful confusion - and frequently a time of emotional suffering. But this card indicates that, at least for the moment, pressure has eased, and we can try to sort out what we really feel. Frequently we need first to rest until we feel refreshed, but eventually we will be required to assess events and make new decisions for our future.

Because we will find ourselves seeing things more clearly, difficult and demanding decisions will be easier to make. We will find ourselves with a more clear overview of the issues we are facing. And we will be able to make choices which bring us peace of mind and happiness.

So, on a day ruled by the Lord of Science, we need to regard ourselves as moving into calmer waters. Problems must be approached rationally, and objectively. Emotional swings will be better curbed than indulged. Thus we shall find new and different solutions to difficulties.

We shall see things clearly, get issues into sharp focus and perhaps establish new perspectives. We must strive to climb for the higher ground, so as to get an overview on life which allows us to see its overall pattern.

Reach for whatever you consider to be the Gods on a day like today....stretch upwards and outwards, and attempt to consciously make contact with the Higher Powers of our Universe. Try to get a broader perspective on the whole idea of life..... And allow your tensions to slide away, minimised by the grand view you are able to achieve!

today I was asked by a member of hospital staff for my religion - I told her messianic pagan. Then she didn't know what to write, and was going to write "christian/pagan". I asked why she needed it, she said it was in case I wanted a councellor or someone of my religion, "don't think we've ever had a pagan before, though!". I told her to leave it blank because even at the most extreme situation, I don't want some stranger around me unless they're medical staff anyway!

I feel so decidedly late to this threat, but Merry Meet All!!! From the Canadian Border of NY I send love and light to all of you. I've been predominately Celtic Wiccan for 21 years. I was raised Roman Catholic and it wasn't until recently that my family openly discussed my "choice of religion" which I've always considered to be more of a drawing of spirituality (with the exception of my awesome mother that finds it necessary to buy all things she finds pomegranite for her "little witch"). I've been both a solo and coven practicioner and find I do my best work solo as I have a hard time opening emotion in front of others even my oldest dearest friends. I do embrace my moonstone (as I travel virtually all of the time (even while sleeping) and labradorite for clarity of mind (to combat my ADD... Squirrel! Um What was I saying??). I embrace the goddess and for me more than anything my beliefs are grounded by Mother Earth. My chickens, my gardening, my "carbon footprint" are always I try to embrace my faith and radiate goodness into that which is around me... So again. Sorry for being so late but I've always been a bit of a procrastinator!

I've started my reading and wow. I can see the roots of many religions within the practices of wicca and different forms of paganism. My local Barnes and noble had like maybe 8 or 9 choices of books on the subject. I was disapointed with their selection but I did find one I thought looked good called Wicca, the complete craft. So far the first 100 pages or so is on history and the why's... Gardener and pre Gardener thoughts and reasonings. I must say it's a pretty good book so far for a guy who knows nothing about it

years ago I read a two volume set named, "The History and Practice of Witchcraft." It was written by an ex-priest who had translated and transcribed ancient texts that are held by the vatican. The best book I'd ever read on the subject. I've never seen another copy since. Do I have the name correct or is it just not around anymore?

Holy cow! Only 8 or 9 books? Wow! Ours has like 8 or 9 shelves...honestly. But, I live in California, so maybe that is why.

Check out their website or Amazon. I think B&N will ship to their stores for free (for pick-up) and Amazon will ship for free on pruchases of $25 or more (and their books are cheaper).

Good luck in your reading! If you get the chance, check out a book (maybe library too?) on other pagan paths as well...there are so many wonderful paths to read about!
