i had a good experience today at the local greenhouse i like to frequent. they've had one of their employee's who owns a nice old black lab bring it with him to work for the last few years since i've been going there for plants and supplies.

well, i walked in there today to get a lavender plant and see what else they had for fresh herbs this time of year and i noticed one of the other employees walking into the area and then say something to at first what i thought was me but then i felt a little presence other than the 2 of us, then noticed their new cat following closely behind me! a sweet little black kitty they had just waltzing around keeping an eye on everything in the green houses.

the little kitty came right over to me for some attention when i saw her and then i found out her name! Gizzie! my cat's original name was that (her sister eventually got that name instead since my mom couldn't tell them apart while i could). well, this little kitty followed both of us around while we talked for a bit. i asked the employee if she ever had anyone react to the 'black cat', and she told me about a grandmother with a granddaughter who had the reaction of 'don't let it cross your path!!! it's bad luck!' i had a huge laugh at that and so did the lady! i love black cats, and especially all cats that walk up to me! i rarely have seen a cat run from me, many come readily running up to check me out or stay close enough to watch me go about my business before approaching.

i love going to this place! it always feels calming to go in there! and having their employees be able to bring their animals to work makes it seem even better!

I love Hecate and have worked with her many times.. It defintly sounds like you are in her favor..( Not an easy feat by any means) I am not the least bit suprised at how you feel peaceful after your ritual, as that is what it feels like to be blessed by the Gods. And as far as not sure if you are doing it correctly, just the fact that you Feel diffirent is enough to show you that you DID do it right.. I have found that I have better results when I "wing" it on a ritual then when I spend hours writing a spell..

I have a feeling if she hasnt already that she will be in your dreams very soon .. Maybe this is a good time to have a pn and notepad close by the bed to write down what she has to say..

And like many old names you can spell it either way...

As some of you know my boys are homeschooled, and being homeschooled pagans leads to some interesting logic on religion (they study world faiths along with history and culture). Today the stores had out all thier easter stuff. "Mom what is easter for?" So I reminded him of the christmas story about baby jesus, and that easter celebrates when jesus rose from the grave...

"Easter is about ZOMBIE JESUS?!?"

"uhhhhh...."

I could see why they would make that jump in logic.

What about Oestra(did I spell that correctly?) Doesn't it have the eggs and rabbit also?

Slightly off topic, what curriculum do you use? I find it very hard to find material for my children once they hit middle school that isn't Christian based. We are doing Keystone this year. It is an online, accredited course that will give my daughter a diploma from the board of education in PA.

I have had to supplement teaching my children about evolution because some of the text that I used, ignored evolution.

Logically it does make sense.

We do the Ostara, and are lucky enough to have a large out of the broom closet community here. We use K-12 (k12.com) secular and academically challenging. Religions are semi-covered in the history section (example, discussing the issues of the divine right of kings verses the formation of parlaments). Science is fact based, important to us (Mr Saddi is a science teacher).

Merry Meet! So glad to stumble upon this thread! I am a homeschooling Mama of 2, urban homesteading and openly Pagan in a small Indiana town. We are just getting started with chickens, and ducks. We got 2 ducks (Khaki Campbell and Mallard?) and will be picking up 5 Barred Rock chickens tomorrow. Really looking forward to getting to know everyone here and making some new online Pagan pals! lol We are gearing up for Ostara with an egg hunt and a kid-oriented family ritual. I will post pics when the time comes

oooh, good use for that pile of brush and broken trees in the middle of our backyard. i just told the dh and he says sounds like a good time to do it! though i'd rather have it burned before then so i can get some of my garden in the ground where the pile is!
