Actually, it takes a LOT of time if you do it right. I used to have some rare varieties, and let me tell you, it's more work than you would think. Their tank has to be 70% humidity or higher or they die. The food they sell in stores is actually full of heavy metals that kill them, so you have to make your own. They have to have both salt and fresh water. They're social and should have at least one friend. Their substrate has to be kept moist. Etc etc. So if that person was taking care of it correctly, I can see why they'd have no time for it XD
