hard to crack the shells. And yes you can eat them raw or cook them it is up to you.

Just really tuff membrane with a thin shell. Very difficult, especially when 5 quail eggs equal one chicken egg

I've cracked open quail eggs before. They're not easy to open, then are a mess when they do. They crack very differently from a chicken egg.

Use a pointy knife in the skinny end of the egg, top shell pops right off! I’ve gotten quick with the quail eggs. One of my aunts gives us a few dozen every month. I like to fry them (takes about 30 seconds), and add them to salads for a few protein bites!

Ok that makes more sense. Sorry to be ignorant. I won a contest here a while back that offered quail but I told them to give the prize to the second runner up. I don't have the facilities to keep them since they have very different dietary requirements then chickens do and would require a different enclosure
