OH MY GOSH! I think I could rip a phone book in half!

You are right it does get easier. Since I started thinking like that I have lost 33 lbs. It's been a couple years and I still enjoy the foods I love to eat. I just stop before I feel like a whale. I gave up on trying to eat veggies I hate, so I eat a lot of green beans because I LOVE them. Don't force yourself, chose things you really do like

please try to quit. i don't want to scare you but my father in law died last sept from lung cancer at 61. he smoked 2 packs a day for many years. i can tell you it was something i wish i had not witnessed and my mother in law and husband went through hell. he died 3 weeks from the day he was diagnosed. so, choose to find any way you can to quit anf God bless.

Put them down and walk away. You can do it. You don't need them. They aren't worth it. Walk way forever! Good luck! It's one of my biggest accomplishments (in my own little mind).

I quit ....... cold turkey. Just one day I said that is enough! I quit when I was pregnant and that was for my baby. I needed to quit so my babies could have their mama around. It was not a piece of cake, but you can do it! You just have to want to. I tried quitting when I did not want to and that was way harder. Good luck to you! You CAN do this!

I forgot to say, the whole reason I looked at this thread is because my younger brother can in fact rip a phone book in half! I have it on video!

They had a segment about quiting on the Today Show this morning. They said that the nicotine is what makes it so hard to quit and that using the nicotine supliments is okay. It's not the nicotine that is dangerous to your health. So don't be afraid to use one of the nicotine products out there to help you.

Best of luck to you! I'm a quitter, too - about a dozen years ago, and still at times idly think of lighting up, but I don't. I figure, why start that again? It's a real addiction, I had it for many years. Don't beat yourself up if you finally do smoke that cigarette, just go on and try again. I think you're doing it the right way, just putting it off and telling yourself you can go a little longer. I hope your family is supportive, the need to rip phone books in half will slowly go away.

We are ALL rooting for you.

Every time you make one of your goals, do the happy dance. You deserve it and exercise will take your mind off of your cigs for a minute.

You can do it.

You can do it. Set your mind on it and you can do it. I have been quit for going on 10 yrs now. Can't believe I ever smoked. I am one of those that can't stand the smell of it now. All the best to you. Go chew some sugar free gum.
