I did that too. I was just going to get 6 Silkies, but when I lost that auction I bid on a bunch more. I wanted this color and that color...ohhhh, and some of those!

I ended up with 39 eggs. Between beginners mistakes with hatching and bad breeding I only have 3 chicks from those. (4 different sellers) Since then I've only bought from BYC sellers and had much better hatch rates and NO deformities! Not all ebay sellers are the same though...I'm not bashing them, I just got unlucky.

Yes, and, when your neighbors discover you have hens and how delicious your eggs are, you will want to have some to sell, too.

O ordered 2 dozen eggs as well, and only 7 hatched, probably 4-5 pullets judging by their frosting/color/etc. I think you're on the right track....

Thanks guys! So I take it since I am new at this I should try to hatch all my eggs I have coming,,and just hope for the best! I was thinking maybe I wouldn't put them all in the incubator but I am not exactly sure of the hatch rate so I reckon better safe than sorry. I can always put an ad on Craigslist for the extras.
