Started with 11 pullets now I have 30........the remainder new chicks ..... A few more coming. I'm glad I have 2 acres to put them on and a neighbor who needs some younger blood for her flock! HAhahhahhaa........... (maniacal laughter)

Lol well I live in a neighborhood but I called the city before I decided to do this and asked if there are any ordinances against chickens. I was told no unless I have a roo that people complain on for disturbing the peace. Hence I am having no roos just to be safe,,only hens.

Amen!

My first two hatches I set 41 eggs both times and both times I got 12 chicks.

My third hatch I wanted at least 10 pullets so I figured I'd need 20 to hatch so I set 65 eggs and I got 41 chicks!!!!

I gave 3 away the first or second day and now out of 38 chicks it appears I have at least 26 roos! So I suppose I got the pullets I wanted with a roo overload.

Good luck!

Chickens are a serious addiction!

When I talked my husband into getting chickens I was only going to going to have 6-9. Well I now have 37! With plans to hatch more! He now tells people "You know those crazy cat ladies? Well that's my wife but with chickens." He doesn't mind so much except when I need another coop built!
