Oh no I said I just wanted 4 or 5

Ha, me and my mom are the same xD First, we were just getting 4 good egg layers. Now, we're getting two silkies as well(maybe more) and some other breeds from the feed stores

Annd, none of them are even hatched yet. It just like "We have more space, let's order more chickens!"

Tis addicting! I don't even want to think about what would happen if we had a larger yard--right now the size of the yard is keeping us from having more. And the lack of building materials for a larger coop

I started out with 4 RIR chicks. Now i've got 9 silkie chicks coming on wednesday. The crappy thing about it is, no matter how many chickens you get, you'll never be satisfied. You must get MORE AND MORE AND MORE. BIGGER BROODER, BIGGER COOP, BIGGER RUN AND HUNDREDS, if not THOUSANDS OF CHICKS! It truly is a sickness.

Yes, and, you know what would totally finish me? If I EVER in all this WORLD got a Sportsman. Even if it was GIVEN to me I shouldn't take it, not that it would be of course.

this sounds very familiar, i do believe that is exactly what i said in november. my first hatch was 10 out of13, second hatch was 4 out of 8, now waiting on eggs to arrive to do hatch #3

my 1st hatch i think has 7 roos, but not too sure since they are still fairly young, 2nd hatch no idea they are only 12 days old

Seems like this is early in the year for this full blown case of chick addiction. Perhaps you have a new strain?
H1HEN1 !

Agreed to 2 - raised 15 chicks - We kept 8 for ourselves

Started with 6 chicks from the feed store, extras because you know they are so delicate that you lose half. Several years later: A couple of hundred chicks hatched later, at least 12 shows a year, beautiful horse barn converted for birds,(40 year horse addiction, waning, 8 horses & ponies live outside in run in sheds) family schedules ALL activity around poultry shows. Have to get a Chick setter when going anywhere. Currently in house, 1 call duck, 5 Magpie Ducklings, 60 silkie chicks, with 75 eggs just set in incubator. and 1 retired Bantam Silverlaced Wyandotte hen, who decided to molt in the coldest time of the year! Yes this hobby is VERY ADDICTIVE!!!! But life is short, so I say, HATCHAWAY!!! WELCOME TO OUR FLOCK!!!
