Oh no! Not the breed I was told they were!

Not to sidetrack much, but thought that mallards, if raised from young will stay on your hacienda and not fly away into the wild. Meaning they will return to duck coop at night. I considered a pair of ducks, but only wanted mallard.
I don't know. Lol. I'm new to ducks. So I researched in to what I "kind of" have experience with (took care of some Peking ducks for a friend for about a week). So now I'm researching into Mallard/Rouen.

Here is a pix from a while ago. It was at a swap meet. Guess all these are most likely Pekings.

We are city slickers, so I took the next pix to tease my DD, She luvs goats. Cant keep livestock at home. Same swap meet.

Have to agree with the other poster that said they're Rouen ducklings. Mallard ducklings tend to only have one eyestripe, while Rouens have two.(mallard ducklings will have one right over the eye, while rouens seem to have one over the eye and one right under.)

This is a mallard duckling

These are Rouen ducklings:

If your ducklings ARE indeed Rouens, you will not have to worry about them flying. They are pretty heavy-weight birds and can't fly well at all in my experience (unlike my khaki campell mix who went right over my 4 foot fence lol) I have several rouen ducks and the most air ive seen them take is about 2 feet off the ground before they give up. They should also be about the size of your Pekin ducklings as adults if my own ducks are a good basis to go off of. Mallards however will be quite a bit smaller.

Khota.... Thank you.
Actually thank to everyone's insight....
So my conclusions....
1. I have awesome ducks because they are super chill, cute as could be, and (fingers crossed) eggcellent layers
2. I have Rouen's (great coloring)
3. I do not have to rush on the canopy and can take my time on their run to make it just right!
All in all, I'm good with all of that! Lol. Was dreading the thought of rushing the canopy. It's on my spring project list.... But so are some other MAJOR projects.
