Oh Repecca! No!

I think you're fine.. Found a pic of a 6 month old lavender orphington roo. There's quite a difference between him and yours

Repecca has been plagued with physical problems, pigeon toed, doesn't roost, sour crop, needs a bra. Hence she always looks disheveled and a bit dirty butt due to sleeping in the pine shavings. I'm thinking maybe that roo in the pic is just healthier? I need a good pic of a 6 month old Lavender Orpington hen!!

Sometimes if you don't keep a rooster in the flock, the alpha hens will try a half hearted crow to establish her position in the pecking order. If you get a rooster in the flock she will most likely quit. Plus, a roster in the flock adds to a better flow to the pecking order and all the girls will know her place. I didn't want a rooster at first, but when I did, the girls seem happier and egg production went up by at least by 30-40%. Just a thought.

Look at Repecca's neck feathers. Compare them to your pullets' neck feathers. Look at them compared to the picture MillersFarm posted. If you are allowed to keep roosters, I'd keep him. You're going to have a hard time finding anyone to take him anyway with all of his issues.

Just tell your family that he's "special" so you doubt the eggs are fertilized. Or don't give them your eggs if they're going to be fussy. Or tell them you think he's a crowing hen and leave it at that.
