I agree to that it's a predator, Watch your chickens close there is a really good chance who ever did it is going to come back for seconds and thrids. But on the up side at least your Roo has been proven innocent. Keep us up dated and let us know when you find the guilty party.

I say predator also. A hawk would explain your missing Welsummer cockeral as well.

I've had a rooster kill another rooster before. The body would be intact (aside from holes from spurring, scratches, and peck wounds), the eyes may also be pecked out, punctured, or otherwise missing. The birds were total free range too.

I agree...headless = predator.

I don't think chickens are carniverous unless starved and one falls ill or dies.

Roos fighting to death fight just that way...to death...they won't tear the head off of their opponent.

Predator.. raccoon , opossum, weasel or bird of prey. Have lived around chickens all my life never saw a chicken bite off another chickens head. Maybe put out live trap to try and catch it.
