Ohhhh the ants~ I want them dead and gone!!!!!!!!!!!!

Termidor SC will wipe out ants. It will not hurt you chickens or other animals either. You can get it at your COOP It last a long time to.

Borax mixed with cane syrup put in lids , etc ......... Amdro will not work on sugar ants . Works great on fire ants . Of course you are using outside the run or coop perimeter right ? Permethrin sprayed on them will knock them down for a little while . Their trails often go up trees so spray around the base of your trees . Sevin dust is fair . I use tin pie pans to mix my borax and syrup in . Good luck .... stay persistent and you will overcome .

Yea I will stay consistant~ I wiped them out of the one side of the yard and now they are trailing around on the other side of the yard~ they like to scavage under the bird feeders under this one tree. Guess what I found in the grass over the weekend a Velvet Ant~ *AKA* the cow killer technically this thing is a wingless wasp!! But it's sting is extremely painful and probably could have done some serious damage to the chickens, dogs, or kids if it stung one of them. Or even me for that matter~ but I caught it in a jar to show you all! Check it out...

This is a Female~ with a very toxic stinger!!

Then we found a male Velvet Ant the next day which does have wings but no stinger!

I released the female in a big open feild far away from any houses so she could go about her life! They are really beautiful creatures~ even the male! I let him go back in the yard where he was since he wont bother anything

You folks must not be flower lovers... Peonies cannot flower unless the ants eat the wax that holds the petals closed in the buds.
A neighbor with a beautiful garden of flowering Peonies swore up and down she had no ants in her garden this year.
She must be raising magic self opening Peonies.

That is interesting . Thanks for sharing . Do ya'll have fire ants where ya'll live ? Here in the deep south it's a constant battle with both sugar and fire ants , although Amdro will keep fire ants at bay . Don't have the Brazilian crazy ants yet . I plant marigolds about my vegetable garden and the smell keeps some bugs away .

Cinnamon has worked for me but you have to put it down thick. I buy the giant container from Costco. Good in pumpkin pie too.
If you have a location that pets and people arnt exposed to, you can use cayenne pepper and watch them squirm in pain. The good news is that you have chickens! My chickens have no interest in eating ants, but most of the ants have moved out of our yard because the chickens keep messing up their ant hills.

Lysol disinfectant spray in the can. It works like nobody's business. Long story how I discovered it but I don't buy anything but Lyson now. With grandkids and sweets, I get ants. When I find them I spray them and they're dead within seconds and when I find their homes I spray the mound and DEAD! and disinfected.

Really though, it works.
