Ohhhh the ants~ I want them dead and gone!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if a mixture of water and Neem oil (with a dash of dish soap as a spreading agent) would work on ants. It's not a chemical - my feeling is oily stuff may suffocate bugs.

I haven't had great luck with ant poisons but I find myself reaching for the Spic & Span spray and it seems to kill alot of bugs FAST, and has some residual properties.

instant grits work some of the time... i am going to try the baking soda method.... maybe it'll get the ants off my gate and chain.

Happy for you!

I am now expert, but how about pyrethrin or eugenol oil it kills just about every bug and its safe for humans and animals because it is natural oils from plants to prevent invading bugs.

Empty ant hill also seem to make good dusting areas.

Bahaha!! That's funny

See my ants don't really mound up? They just kinda tunnel around and you really wouldn't notice them, unless your standing in it! But trust me I encourage the chickens to eat them! But glad you were able to get rid of them~ that would completely bug me out... Ants give me the Heevi Geevies!!!

You know what if I just pour some canola oil on them at these temperatures~ I'd have some fried crispy ants real quick! but I haven't tried the Neem yet, have tried the soap~ that doesn't do much. Were going to all figure it out by the end of this thread though

I was just seeing some other people talking about pyrethrin on another post and using it to get rid of lice and mites~ Where do you find that at? Maybe at a feed store~ I'll have to do some research on that. Haven't heard of the Eugenol oil either~ so I need to look that one up as well! Thanks so much

Tap temp water and the cheapest dish soap I could get worked for me.

Boiling water worked, too, but it will kill everything.

You may have to repeat these in a week.

Years ago I saw research where the guy was using a kind of bang stick with a co2 cartridge. You jam the stick into the mound, and release the co2. The ants suffocate. You could try helium or nitrogen, too.

I know you said chemical free, but Borax is honestly the way I always go.
Mix it with a few sprinkles of sugar, put it on the ground on little plastic lids or just sprinkle it around, they drag it back home & Kablam!! Exploding ants

Works every time

I tried mixing molasses with baking soda, didn't work. I may try the borax next. Is that something you can buy at your regular grocery store or are there more specialized places that sell it?
