OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

If my father-in-law had helped I would probably like my current coop. He built their pole barn, the addition to their house, their garage and all of their storage sheds. During the construction of the coop he had come over almost every day to watch us and always commented on how hot it was. He waited until we were done to point out things we could have done to make it a lot better. After he went home (right next door) I turned to my husband and said, "I don't like your dad anymore." I kept his comments in mind while I worked out the new coop design so at least there's that.

not too far from you, but dont know if they have a minimum if you pick up at hatchery, it could be a roadtrip

Or you might go to Lorain county fair and see if anyone there has some for sale, they used to have a preatty good amount of birds then again haven't been in 20+years

Yes i do believe the minimum for chickens at meyer hatchery is 3! Ive ordered from them a lot and they ship to ur local post office!

Meyer will ship to yiu but i thought the minimum was 9 for shipping to keep them warm. You will need to check their website. I would love to go there to do a pick up but with my schedule now I don't know if it would happen. How does one order only 3 chicks?I can not do it, 3 of this, 3 of that ohhhh look guineas!!what is worse is when I go to pick up Cochins. Hubby says your getting 4 right? Then bring home 5. I think he will need to go with me next time, maybe. lolol!

Good morning :)
Meyer minimum order Dec thru March is 25 chicks (standards), 20 minimum for bantam breeds. April-Nov minimum is 3. You can mix and match your breeds

It's a nice place to pick up in person if you can make the drive. I got some of my layers from there last April. They've been nice healthy birds so far.

Yeah, but this is exactly the way it started last year. In winter of 2013 (I think it was December) there was some news about the bird flu...I don't remember the details but it was like one farm that had it. Then everything quieted down for a while. Until Spring 2014. Let's pray we don't have a repeat. Really, really.
