OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I live about 40mi. North of where the Buckeye breed originated. I have raised them in the past and found them to be well tolerant to the cold of N.E.O winters with little to no comb damage from frostbite. The weather has been kind to us living near Lake Erie this summer. :frow

Hi im in Marion. Have backyard chickens. We bought new babies recently i.e., RIR, Marin, Isa. Brown, Isa-Barred Rock, Amber-Link, and we already White Leghorn.

Hello, I'm Meg and I'm in Clermont county in SWOH. Once had a Wyandotte cross rooster and now keeping six Blue Australorp - Buff Orpington crosses. Hoping to pick up a few more pullets this year.
I think i know where Clermont is. Would love to have some Buff Orpingtons and Australorps. Have heard good things about them.

Hello, new to chickens. I currently have my first flock of 13 in the brooder. They are 5 weeks old. We are located in Southern Ohio more specifically Lucasville, OH on about 8 acres.

We have at least two Roos waiting another week to be sure no more Combs turn red.

We got our babies as day old chicks from Alchemist Farms. It was a surprise box so I am not 100% sure yet on the breeds of all of them. Here are the ones I am fairly sure of One Swedish Isbar, One Amerucana, 3 Moss Eggers, 1 BCM maybe two, 2 Wellsummers, probably at least one or two German Bielefelders, the rest I do not know yet.

I have one buckeye I bought from Meyers.
I was confused by your post when I saw it, especially since it says you are from WA. But now I realized the thread title may be confusing to those not from Ohio. This is actually our state thread, as people from Ohio are often referred to as buckeyes (Ohio is "the buckeye state"). But I wouldn't expect someone from out of state to know that.

But anyway, all are welcome! How do you like your Buckeye chicken? I always have wanted to get a few of those since they were created in Ohio, but I only have a 4 ft fence and heard they can be flighty. What's your experience with the breed been like?
