OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

UPDATE
So after some investigation and through the advice of a friend and fellow chicken owner we have opted to go the no crow collar way. We had the perfect materials on hand and made one that was beyond perfect and very adjustable. Lord Grey, while not all that thrilled about this turn of events, seems to have accepted that he is in fact not caught in an invisible trap and is going about his day. He has not attempted to crow thus far…..
I wish you the best with that! I've heard mixed reviews with those collars, with some people swearing by them and others saying they are inhumane. But I know you're just doing what's best for you and your chicken so I hope things work out. :)

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE:
We tried the No crow and it was a No go. 🤷‍♀️ He was just as loud and I didn’t want to risk making it any tighter. In the mean time we were able to find a friend of a friend who happened to be looking for a rooster. Earl is now very happily running the roost on a farm all his own sharing the barn with sheep, goats, cows, and other assorted animals. All’s well that ends well! Ty all for your help!

That's great to hear! Sounds like your rooster got a nice new home. :) I hope he enjoys life on his new farm!

Just moved to North Ridgeville from Olmsted Township. Had 8 acres next to the soccer fields on Schady and bought 12 acres at our new location.

I posted on the Predator site just now: something like 40,000 domestic mink released by 'animal rightists' at a mink farm somewhere near Ft. Wayne. Look out!

Found an article about it. That's crazy! If it really was "animal rights activists", they may not really be looking out for animal rights if minks become invasive. But at this point it's unclear who the vandalists were who took down the fence.

Hi, I haven't read this whole thread but I'd love to ask - does anyone here know of anyone in southwestern Ohio (particularly around the north-of-Cincinnati area) who might be willing to teach a chicken processing class in mid-January this winter?

I'm hosting a group of youth/young adults who would be interested in/benefit from a lesson to learn how it's done. I think this would be great for them :)

If this person already had raised meat chickens, that'd be great, but if not we might be able to find another person who had raised them and then transport them to the teacher. Ideas on where to source them would be great too!

If anyone on here has a lead I could follow up, I'd really appreciate it!! 😊

Hello fellow buckeyes. Is it true that the state minimum chick purchase has been lowered from 6 to 3? I saw it briefly mentioned in an article in the Farm and Dairy newspaper I picked up from TSC, but have not been able to find anything about it on the internet.
