Mark, I have one Mallard juvenile that is 6 weeks old now that is getting a lighter colored tan chest. It is the one that has a more yellow bill too. The other two are still staying with the darker chests and green bills so they are not all three alike anymore. Would you happen to know which one possibly could be a female by that description? I thought it was a male for sure but it is also the most vocal one. Thanks for any input you can give me.I bought Susie before she passed, an Echo tiller, Now I see why she loved it.![]()
Yes! the ones with the green bills are males, the one with a lighter brown bill is a female. I definitely have more males than females.Mark, I have one Mallard juvenile that is 6 weeks old now that is getting a lighter colored tan chest. It is the one that has a more yellow bill too. Thanks my friend, then all three of mine might be males. The one with the lighter chest is actually turning white underneath and is trying to quack so I am still going to hold off until 10 weeks when they have their adult voices. Two of them this morning were acting as if they were trying to quack but I think it's just because they don't want to go down the road, lol.Yes! the ones with the green bills are males, the one with a lighter brown bill is a female. Good morning Mark. Have a good day.Early, good morning to all.![]()
I was thinking that a while back I saw someone post one on here with a green bill that turned out to be a female. I may be wrong but I can vividly remember the picture, just not sure who's post it was. Are you sure yours are boys???? I am holding off as I was just watching them again and the one that is acting like a female was still very vocal and so was one of the others. Time will tell for sure.Yes! the ones with the green bills are males, the one with a lighter brown bill is a female. I definitely have more males than females.
Yes! all the females are quacking all the males are squeaking. There is always an exception to the rules. Like I said earlier I banded all the females with a white band and all the males with a black band.I was thinking that a while back I saw someone post one on here with a green bill that turned out to be a female.
